Found in India, green aventurine is considered the luckiest crystal and is sometimes referred to as “the stone of opportunity”.<\/p><\/div>\n
AVENTURINE <\/span><\/strong>(a.v\u0251\u0303.ty.\u0281in)<\/span> is a type of quartz that, although typically green, also has orange, brown, grey, and yellow varieties. Aventurine is distinguishable by its glassy translucency and small deposits of minerals, usually chrome, which give it an almost glittery appearance. This shimmer is called aventurescence<\/a><\/em>. The quartz has a chemical composition of SiO2<\/sub><\/span>, and the many types of inclusions can be chrome, mica, and hematite, among several others. It is a 7 on the Mohs scale.<\/p>\n The name comes from the Italian “a ventura” literally meaning “by chance”. In the 18th century, glassmakers accidentally spilled copper shavings into molten glass, giving the glass a distinctive sparkle. When aventurine was discovered, the shimmer was so similar to the aventurine glass that it was named after it. False aventurine, called goldstone<\/a>, is still made this way.<\/p>\n Most green aventurine is found in India, but other colors often come from Russia, Chile, or Spain.<\/p>\n Metaphysical Properties<\/span><\/p>\n Aventurine is known to be a lucky crystal, and is said to bring prosperity. Many find that when they meditate with this stone, not only are they luckier, but they also find more opportunities opening for them.<\/p>\n This stone is associated with the heart chakra, and is often also used as a stress reliever or to soothe negative emotions. Wearing or holding aventurine is often used to help with emotional well-being and strengthening relationships.<\/p>\n Blue and yellow aventurine helps to open the third eye, while the red variety is often used to assist with creativity or making decisions.<\/p>\n Care and Cleansing<\/span><\/p>\n Aventurine is easily cleaned with soap and water. It is not prone to breakage or scratching, but other harder crystals may damage it, and care should always be taken when cleaning more than one type of crystal at a time.<\/p>\n To spiritually cleanse this crystal, rinse with cold water and lay to dry in the sun for 20 minutes 2 – 3 times a week. Alternately, light green aventurine can lay on grass during rain for 15 minutes.
