The purple color comes from inclusions of magnesium, iron, and lithium.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">AMETHYST <\/span><\/strong> (<strong>\u0103m<\/strong> \u0259 thist) is a variety of quartz that is found in various places around the world, including Brazil, Urugway, Mexico, the southern United States, Western Australia, and Morocco. Its chemical composition is SiO<sub>2<\/sub> + (Al, Ca, Fe, Li, Mg, Na). It ranks at a 7.0 hardness on the Mohs scale.<\/p>\n<p>Ancient cultures around the world were familiar with amethyst. The Greeks wore it for protection against magic, homesickness, evil thoughts, and drunkenness. Buddhist monks in India used it to help them meditate. <a title=\"Hildegard von Bingen of Germany\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hildegard_von_bingen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hildegard von Bingen<\/a> used it to treat skin blemishes and tumors.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Metaphysical Properties<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Amethyst has a wide variety of magickal attributes. It is commonly worn or carried by people in recovery to support sobriety. Others claim it is helpful to alleviate or prevent migraine headaches.<\/p>\n<p>Placed on the crown chakra or on top of the head during meditation, amethyst increases concentration and confidence. It is said to bring clarity to the conscious and unconscious mind.<\/p>\n<p>Amethyst can be invoked in legal spells to attract justice, make a judge friendly, and protect against burglars and thieves.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Care and Cleansing<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Amethyst can be physically cleaned with soap and water, or jewellery cleaner. It is safe to put it in an ultrasonic cleaner.<\/p>\n<p>To spiritually cleanse amethyst, wash it once a month with warm running water and leave overnight among dry hematite stones.
