RUBY KYANITE <\/span><\/strong>(\u02c8\u0279u\u02d0bi<\/span> \u02c8<\/span>k\u012b-\u0259-\u02cc<\/span>n\u012bt<\/span><\/span> ) is a combination of kyanite and the precious stone ruby, and can be found in Asia.<\/p>\n July’s birthstone, Ruby is classified as one of the four precious stones, and is valued for its deep red color. The red color is due to chromium impurities, when other elements are present, sapphires are produced. Its chemical composition is Al2<\/sub>O3<\/sub> + Cr. It ranks at an impressive 9.0 hardness on the Mohs scale.<\/p>\n Kyanite’s name derives from the Greek kuanos<\/i>, meaning “deep blue”. The chemical formula for kyanite is\u00a0Al2<\/sub>SiO5<\/sub>. It forms long, column – like crystals, which give it a distinctive “grain”. This property leads to its anisotropism<\/a>, giving it a Mohs hardness of 7.0 against the grain and around a 5.5 when cut with the grain.<\/p>\n Metaphysical Properties<\/span><\/p>\n Ruby Kyanite is said to have a wide variety of magickal properties. Not only does it aid in communication, it is also said to be beneficial for meditation, astral projection, and opening the third eye.
